Traffic Records and Auto Insurance
A big thing that can affect your auto insurance rates is your past traffic records. If you’ve ever been in an accident, gotten a ticket, or had to appear before a judge concerning your driving, you may have to worry about extra high auto insurance rates.
Dangerous
The biggest concern with auto insurance companies is whether or not you’re a “dangerous driver”. If you’ve ever had to appear before a court due to excessive speeding tickets, drunk driving, or street racing charges, these can all label you a dangerous driver in the eyes of the auto insurance company and cost you money.
Irresponsible
Again, if you’ve ever had to stand before a court for any reason, including excessive tickets and/or drunk driving, this can deem you to be an “irresponsible” driver. Auto insurance companies don’t like irresponsible drivers either because they might be late on payments, not report things that they should, or any number of other issues. If you can prove that you have always and will always pay your premiums on time, then they may overlook any other issues.
More Money
All auto insurance agencies care about is how much money they make and how much money they have to pay out. This is why if you’ve ever been an accident, or multiple accidents, your premiums will be higher because the auto insurance company will have to pay out more if you ever get in another accident. Not only do they have to cover you (depending on what coverage plans you chose), but they may be responsible for paying for the other driver if you are held responsible. This will in turn make your premiums go up even higher, but will also give them an excuse to charge more.
