Hybrids and Auto Insurance

Some auto insurance companies are now offering discounts on your premiums if you are the owner of a hybrid vehicle. Not all insurance companies are doing this however, due to fear of losing money and an unwillingness to work with the little guy.

Why Some Do

Some auto insurance companies are doing this because everyone is trying to work together to cut down on foreign dependency of oil and also to make the Earth cleaner. The government itself is giving tax cuts from a few hundred dollars up to a few thousand dollars to owners of hybrid cars.

Why Some Don’t

Some auto insurance companies are still reluctant to do this, though, because they want to hold onto their profits. They claim that it costs the same to repair a hybrid vehicle as it does to repair a normal vehicle if not more. They also claim that they’re fearful of the electrical equipment in these new hybrid cars and simply “don’t want to think about what could go wrong” if there were to be a malfunction while in operation. The truth is, however, that these auto insurance companies that don’t want to “get with the program” are greedy and just don’t want it to cut into the profits, no matter how much good it does for the world.

If you own a hybrid car, always ask your auto insurance provider how much you can save. If they tell you nothing, then tell them you’re switching to a new auto insurance agency. You deserve to get a discount since your vehicle is safer for the environment, costs less on gas, and ushers in a new generation of companies and customers who are working together to provide for the common good.
